Started this series because it's supposedly similiar to Yona of the Dawn. I enjoyed the first volume, but the episodic nature of the story bothered me and it felt a bit disjointed. Would have loved more explanation and some kind of introduction to the world, because we just get tossed right in.

I really enjoyed the begninning of the story, but I caught myself losing interest after about 50% of the book. The mix between funny and grim also confused me a bit. I don't dislike a mixture of these two things, but I think the book would have benefited if the author made a clear distinction.

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews. Was it the best book ever? No, but it's not like I expected a middle grade book to be a masterpiece. I especially don't understand the criticism of the language use. I read the german translation, so maybe that made a difference. The language was simple, but it was just right for a middle grade book. The plot was fine. Nothing too exciting or revolutionary, but it was still nice before bed to wind down. The only thing that bothered me a bit were the almost episodic adventures. Everything is resolved really fast and it's all pretty convenient.

Well, another disappointing read.

I managed to get to the 50% mark, but I wasn‘t feeling it to be honest. I decided to read some reviews and found one with an actual summary of the plot. I am so glad I read it because it saved me a lot of nerves and time. Sadie was easily a 5 star read, but since then Courtney Summer doesn‘t do it for me. This is the second time in a row I dnfed a book by her.

I'm sorry but I couldn't do it any longer. If I have to spend one more minute inside Scarlett's head I am going to explode.

That was actually pretty good! At first I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it and I was ready to give it up after that one volume. Not because it was bad, I just thought I would like it more as an anime (which is gonna be released next year). The last few chapters changed my mind though and I am excited to see where the story is heading.

I am actually really disappointed. I love her other series and was excited to check this one out as well. The art style is just out of this world. Sadly the plot is really weird. I was so uncomfortable with the sexualization of a little child in an adult body. The whole relationship between Ran and Otaro is just weird as hell. It's so freaking unnecessary. The manga would have benefited if they had just left out these scenes and the whole sexualzation thing.

I read some reviews of the other volumes, but apparently it doesn't get better.

Too abstract for me personally.
