A sweet and witty read. A fun time.
I flew through this. It was so easy to read and highly entertaining.

Though I must say that it somehow felt like it lacked some depth, that would've made me love the book more.
For example, Reginald and Frederick weren't acting quite as I would expect 300+ year-olds to act. A bit too naive and youthful, perhaps.

I related a lot to Amelia though - her need to think things through, having her life and things organized, being a bit high-strung. A lot of the romantic scenarios in the book made me swoon aswell and I realized I would love to be treated in such a way aswell.
I yearn for a calm to my storm, like Reggie is to Amelia.

As a sidenote, I'm personally not a fan of text message segments in books, especially ones involving emojis. Just feels... wrong.

An interesting and intelligent book, but I just didn't feel like it was for me.
Maybe it was the diary-style matter-of-factly style of writing?

I thoroughly enjoyed being transported back into Shady Hollow and getting to spend more time with the wholesome characters. This world is so warm and welcoming, a much needed respite.
As a side-note, I am and will always be a sucker for the Orville & Vera romance! I adore these two.

I rated this book 0.5 stars lower because I felt like the solution in the end was more predictable than it was in the first book of the series. With the first book I was totally in the dark about it until the big final reveal so I was completely blown away.
With this book however, I was aware of who the killer was most of the book but figuring out how exactly they were connected to the case was the interesting part.

Shuna's Journey by Hayao Miyazaki

I feel a little conflicted about this book but in a good way, I think.

The world the characters live in is quite brutal and mirrors a lot our own in the way people have become so cold and distant from nature, myself included. The journey is hard and troublesome, Shuna making many dangerous decisions. Throughout it I kept on hoping that it would get lighter, happier soon.

But then it is also amazing how beautiful the illustrations are, the simple beauty in Miyazaki's storytelling and building up the characters and the world they live in. Just amazing. I probably read it way longer than people usually would, I just kept marveling at the illustrations.

It is that bitter truthness and the beauty that creates such a strange feeling in me. Lots to think about now.

The book was just sooo slow. Way too many different names of people and places, random unimportant details at every chapter. I kept on hoping that it would eventually get interesting but it never quite did capture my attention in the end.
A shame, really, I had such high hopes for this book - I even tried reading it twice, both times the same experience.
