I couldn’t wait to just be done with this book. I picked it up bc I thought it was going to be a good queer novel based on booktok recs and it was…not good. The entire plot centered on 2 women orbiting a man that used them both as objects. MC cheated on her gf bc of course we can’t have queer media without cheating, ending up with a man, or ending up with no one and just being sad and hopeless

I love Awad’s writing style, it made me feel anxious and uncomfortable and curious and want to keep going but also not want it to end. The plot was really getting somewhere where I couldn’t tell if the mc/narrator was reliable or if everything was just imagined and where that line was drawn between real life and created by the writers in the book. I wished it didn’t end the way it did, it left me staring at the back of the airplane seat in front of me and going back to see if I missed some pages. I wanted more of an end to Samantha and the bunnies and max and her time at school. It felt kind of hopeful? But at the same time like…ok all that just happened and that’s it? Samantha needs rest though so I get it

•writing style: quick paced, had me wanting to find out what was going to happen next and how it would wrap up as a murder mystery
•plot: for something I found in a neighborhood free little library, this was a pleasant read. I enjoyed the way the story built up and we started figuring out the killer and their motives with the characters
•end: I wish certain characters made it or at least had a better resolution. The end felt kind of rushed once the killer was caught and all the mc seemed to care about was one person making it….
