this is hard for me to rate.
this book, if nothing else, was completely and utterly captivating. once i read, i could not - and did not - stop. it was fast-paced and entertaining. a lot of that can be credited to r.f. kuang's writing.
but the whole time i could not shake that mouthpiece feeling - and now that it's soaking in, i can't ignore. i love r.f. kuang and i think i liked this book more than i thought it would. the meta aspects would bother some, but honestly, i quite liked it. to me, a lot of the book just seemed like projection about fears, experiences, the writing industry, twitter discourse and more.
