Well I did loved this book three years ago when I first read it. There were some things that I don't like but not that much so it's five stars anyway.

"It would have made things a lot easier if we understood there was no way of living that can immunize you against sadness. And that sadness is intrinsically part of the fabric of happiness. You can’t have one without the other. Of course, they come in different degrees and quantities. But there is no life where you can be in a state of sheer happiness forever. And imagining there is just breeds more unhappiness in the life you’re in"

Well, that book was different. I liked it but it didn't feel like a novel, it felt more like a self-help book which I didn't expect to read but still liked. It was lacking in many aspects as at first I didn't get into the book because well, the description was poor. But the subject was interesting, millions of possibilities to live a life, amazing and overwhelming and in the end, it gave me some kind of hope. That was probably the aim of the book, so it was a good one.

I think I have a love-hate relationship with these kinds of books where every other sentence is somehow criticism or life lesson of a sort but that does not mean I did not enjoy this book. It was good but I prefer subtlety, you don't have to throw the ideas on my face, I love it more when I catch the ideas in between lines because... that's what makes it worth reading.

But still, It was one of the stories that made you feel warm, made you feel you can find your home anywhere, anytime and I don't know why it took me ten days to finish this, honestly, I finished the second half in one sitting because... The characters... they were so unique and special and I loved every one of them.

I absolutely adored Lucy, he was so creative with his threats like really and his relationship with Linus was so perfect. Every children's relationships with Linus were like that actually, I loved how Sal became eventually open to him and how Talia threatened him to burry in the disguise of saying hey, I actually like you.

And towards to end, I felt they became a whole, strange family who is not afraid of facing hardships as long as they have each other. They were perfect.

And because quotes were absolutely perfect, here are some of my favorites.

"Humanity is so weird. If we’re not laughing, we’re crying or running for our lives because monsters are trying to eat us. And they don’t even have to be real monsters. They could be the ones we make up in our heads. Don’t you think that’s weird?”

“He’s so wonderful and generous,” Lucy said, spinning in a circle on the sidewalk, arms outstretched for reasons Linus didn’t understand. “And I hope he remembers to do the same for me, so I don’t have to spend my own money and feel left out and have to open a pit to hell and watch this village be swallowed whole. Because that would just be so easy.”

"We are who we are not because of our birthright, but because of what we choose to do in this life."

I didn't imagine this book would be like this, I thought it would be you know a little bit more mysterious since the said company of our main character was death itself. But he didn't felt like death to me, he was more like any other supernatural main character and their relationship was mediocre. But the journey was kind of fun and the ending... I liked the ending. Surprise, the mortal and the immortal didn't magically end up together in this one. But it would be better if we learnt how Casiopeia's mother was doing, I felt sorry for the poor woman.

You know what? I've missed reading books in one day, at one sitting. I have fucking missed that feeling. This had everything I had been looking for a book that I want to read to get rid of my reader block thing, highly relatable main character, heart melting but not cheesy romance, family drama, college drama and like all the writing stuffs.. It was just my thing. And twins. I love twins I love reading about them because I look so much alike with my two years old younger sister and everybody assume we're twins and she is my best friend and I love that feeling.

The only reason I gave four stars to this book was like I felt like there wasn't a climax, and everything sort of resolved quickly? But it was so good anyway.

And it was fucking relatable. I was reading about Chat doesn't eat dinner because she doesn't know where the cafeteria is and I was like who the hell does something stupid like that and then I realized me, recently finished her freshman year in college never ever had eaten lunch in school because I had no idea how to pay for lunch with my fingertip and then I became like oh, I do something stupid like that.

All the stuff about writing, not being able to write outside of comfortable era and all the stuff Cath has been through... I don't know I just love it

I would like to speak more about this awesome book but my eyes hurt because of non-stop reading hours so...
