I actually enjoyed this book! Wasn’t so sure since thriller isn’t my go to genre but color me surprised, this was good! Loved Wrath and everything about him. However Emilia annoyed me a lot at times, being very obnoxious and making very poor choices, but I do respect her need for vengeance, wit and quick thinking. Also loved the Italian components incorporated into the whole plot, made the book so much more intriguing.
I loved the fact that there was some LGBTQ+ and disability rep, but honestly the beginning was just a chore to go through, nothing made sense the pacing was horrendously wrong and way too slow for my liking. However by the midpoint of the book, it started getting very interesting and fun to read. You just gotta wait a few hundred pages. I wasn’t much of a fan of Harper and Rhen but that’s for other reasons. I did really love the side characters, I wish they were the main characters, they were much more lovable and badass. Finally the disability rep felt really random it appeared sometimes to state a little thing like yes she’s proud of being a disabled women, but it felt too random and not as much of a part of Harper. Recommend for a slow fun retelling and romantic story.
The main character Holden was so annoying, the way he acted and talked, it was so inappropriate and I understand that he is going through a lot being a teenager but he doesn’t even fit that category, just a delinquent. People say I’m supposed to relate to his character, but in my opinion he just portrays an even worse image of teenagers when he doesn’t! This book was so frustrating to read and very hard to follow, I was not a fan of the writing. I’ll les the .5 for the creativity but I do not recommend reading this book.
