A terrific look at how climate change is forever altering the winemaking industry around the world, from the storied chateauxs of Bordeaux to the new plains of Texas. Winemaking is farming at its base level, and the problems posed here are ones the entire food industry is facing—and that we will all have to deal with soon. I loved this, especially the emphasis on sustainability; as a wine seller, this feels more important than ever to emphasis.

The best book I’ve ever read that conveys the emotional connection to wine, and why those who work in (natural) wine feel so much passion for it. Alice is a legend, this book is everything.

A stunning debut, one of the best I’ve encountered. Zhang artfully addresses the severe trials of Chinese immigrants to America in the late 19th century with a sweeping plot that takes you from China to San Francisco to the West, seeing what befalls people just trying to get by along the way. Daiyu is a narrator you immediately trust and will follow anywhere, her voice is sure and you fall for her instantly. Her pain is your pain, her joy is your joy; I will hold her in me with the best of literary characters. The ending is fitting, and the epilogue a must. What a book.
