Sometimes it's insightful to look into the eyes of someone else's world view, but it's not mine. A little simplistic kinda like a child's fairytale. Follow your dreams, believe in yourself, be kind and honest. Whatever....now I'm in the mood to read something that is actually really good.

Since I finished the book I felt compelled to give it a star, but I am definitely an outlier on this one and didn't like it and I don't even know where to start on the criticism so I'll just say that I read a few of the already 1-star reviews and agree with pretty much everything those reviewers said.
So why did I keep reading it and ultimately give it 2-star? I think the lure that it must get better since it's been such a popular book. But also, I did like the setting and felt somewhat transported (.25), although the author's detail of the region could've been much better and without all the prose. I didn't feel like it was her territory...like she's from the area which I would expect.
Lastly, I would classify this mostly as a young adult romance novel (it's all over the place though), so if you're into that sort of novel you might like it.

I loved the Easy Rawlings series so much but this prequel  was by far the best. The setting is intriguing and it's loaded with vivid, seedy scenes in the bayou.
