Honestly this book was very disappointing. I’m an academic doing research on drag and originally I was very excited to find this book. Upon reading it, I found myself fact-checking multiple statements, as the authors makes many claims as fact with no citations of sources. Some of the historical references made were completely false (Athena was not born with the head of a man. She was born FROM the head of a man). I understand that this book was meant to be a celebration of drag, however there were enough things that were decidedly wrong that I found the celebration to be lost in misinformation and the authors personal opinion.

I read this book because I wanted to see what the hype was all about. It’s a terrible book with some of the worst and most immature writing couples in with porn. I read better smut on watts when I was 14. The author wanted Zade to be both a good boy vigilante and a bad boy that she just made him the most unlikeable hypocrite.
