Would’ve been 3.5 but the author acknowledges at the end that she isn’t plus-size herself, and it’s really uncomfortable when people tell stories that aren’t theirs to tell.

Otherwise cute, very body positive, queer representation, a little family growth. I’m a sucker for the “falling for the celebrity” trope. This would've been life-changing to read in middle school, but again, non-fat people shouldn't tell fat stories.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 50%.
The graphic sex scene in the middle of the book felt like “jumping the shark” because I didn’t care enough about the characters to want to know what happened next beyond them getting together. I found myself dreading picking it up because I was bored.

I really wanted to like this because it was suggested for fans of Red White and Royal Blue, and Boyfriend Material, but this was not it. For one, these characters are teens, while the other books are 20-somethings. And this is not a fake dating or enemies-to-lovers trope.

But ultimately it was just boring. The characters had no chemistry, I wasn’t rooting for them, and their interactions had tumblr-era cringe vibes. Noah Galvin was an absolute treasure as one of the narrators, which is why I stuck it out as long as I did, but the other one really fell flat.
