Im not sure if it's because I'm currently pregnant or what, but this book, this story, had me all up on my feelings and made me empathize with the Yejide, perhaps to a very depressing level, because this book deals with troubles with conceiving and child loss (multiple times). I think the best way to describe this book is as a tragic heart breaking journey that takes us into the lives of a married couple through the years as they navigate trying to conceive in a society that puts so much pressure into them and the tragic hardships they face once they finally do conceive. The writing was so hypnotic that, despite the dark topic of this book, it was still such a joy to listen to. There were a lot of funny and witty lines throughout the story that made it a lot more pleasant. The ending had me crying both happy and sad tears. Such a beautiful and unique story.
