This book started out so slow, that I nearly lost interest. However, if you can push through & keep reading, you'll be rewarded. The story is very much both character & plot driven. While it feels a bit light at the beginning, the themes tend to get heavier & tense later on, and there are some slightly graphic descriptions. If you'r good at guessing book endings, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this one. I definitely enjoyed this take on Red Riding Hood & the twists it entailed.
Moderate: Death, Violence, Blood, Death of parent, and Injury/Injury detail

Repetetive writing. Previously read Hooked & Twisted. While Twisted was a bit more of a slow burn & less spicy than Hooked; by the time I started Wretched, I was almost immediatel turned off. The characters and story have changed through each book, but the writing is lackluster. She repeats the same details, especially when it comes to sex scenes. The descriptions are not nuanced or unique from book to book. The writing feels forced & rushed. There isn't enough character or plot building, so it's not possible to find any of them loveable or relateable.

I found the writing to be a bit forced & rushed. You won't find a slow burn romance, or a villain turned hero trope here. The ending was somewhat predictable.
However, I loved the plays on words/names, and subtle hints & details that were included in the writing, reminiscent of the Peter Pan stories we're all familiar with. I also appreciated the "Playlist" included at the beginning of the book, as I am someone who imagines and listens to music while reading, to accompany the theme of the telling.

The ending threw me off a bit. Unexpected turn of events & while there was some closure, it felt a bit rushed.
Characters were complex but loveable. Finch & Violet are clearly meant to intersect their stories & do so, in a painfully beautiful way.
