It’s a really really good book and it’s not boring at all but i got bored. i guess it’s one of those “it’s not you, it’s me” situations, but the book is worth it and i would recommend it to others!

might’ve rated this book higher if i was completely focused while listening to it, but i mostly listened to it while working.

I feel like it didn’t live up to the hype that the mediator series gets, but meg cabot is my favourite novel writer so I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the series before deciding!

maybe it’s because i listened to it while working but it didn’t grab my attention enough so i dropped it.

this was so confusing and somehow boring (?) like, the family’s eccentric and funny, but the plot seems to be going nowhere.

this is my first coho book, and i never thought that i would ever read/listen to any of her books, but there was a 2-for-1 offer on auditable and it was one of the few that appealed to me so i got it!

the beginning was boring for me, it felt like it dragged more than it should’ve. a lot of things that beyah did get on my nerves; she felt more like a book character than an actual human like she was written by an AI (not saying that she is, but saying that she’s devoid of humane emotions).

as we finally go into the story and meet people, it felt like all supporting characters were more humane than her and samson (the love interest); both of them seemed way too broody to be human. like, i get it, their lives are hard, and they’re always struggling, all understandable. however, not every moment and every conversation these 2 have needs to be about something really deep and both of them trying to figure the other out. you literally met less than 5 days ago. the same also goes for the narrator; maybe if they didn’t read their convos in an over-brooding tone it would’ve felt lighter to listen to.

By the end of the book, I felt bothered by how some important subjects
Spoiler like sara’s ed
were taken lightly and left unmentioned, but i also found the plot twist grabbing.

if it wasn’t for the plot twist in the last couple of chapters, this book would’ve been a 3.25/5 rather than a 4.25/5. however, again, the most interesting part of the book was rushed because of the dragging beginning, so all of the books potential was left unexplored.

it is a great book, i love it so so much, but i don’t think period pieces are my thing. it’s the first period piece i’ve read so i wasn’t aware, but i’ll probably give it another shot when i’m a headspace that’s more open to new things.

right book, wrong time

it's a great book, as a muslim, i truly appreciated the knowledge of MENA and Islamic customs present in this book, the plotline was amazing, didn't really expect this ending, everything was perfect, however, it felt quite boring and dragging at times. it might be because I listen to audiobooks while working, but there were parts not integral to the plot that got a lot of "screentime" than needed, so I always zoned out through them. i lost my focus a lot in this book, especially in the beginning, which made keeping up even more difficult. but, whenever i was familiar with the characters and the timeline, it was fun again!

i totally recommend this book but you will need to stay focused throughout, even when at the unimportant parts, to not get lost.
