I just see it’s not grabbing my attention and doesn’t seem like it will from other reviews I’ve seen of people that I generally agree with. I bet most queer kids are gonna like this though.
The one gripe I do have is that from what I’ve heard there’s a lot of HP references in a queer book with a trans side character that got published in 2021… but yeah.
Honestly, nothing against this book. It’s written gorgeously and the characters are memorable and worthy of obsessing over. I really did care to see what happened at the end, but this is just not a type of book I generally enjoy or that grips me. And life’s too short for that, so I just choose to DNF. However I would strongly recommend it to those I know would enjoy it. It was certainly worth the try!
An amazing read honestly. It was great to see a more impulsive protagonist in this genre and pick out the pieces. It was a little triggering on manipulation and abuse, so just make sure to know before going into it.
I just personally didn’t vibe with the narrator, felt like she was phoning it in and it was distracting to me.
This book ended very abruptly after taking five different routes to get from point A to B, and the hugest plot point gets resolved out of nowhere. All in all a great concept and exploration of human nature, but I felt it was building up too much for too little payoff.
It’s fine, just not for me. I felt no sparks between the leads, and though I thought this would have the characters rehearse and trying to put on a show with all the drama going on, it instead focuses on cliche high school drama, like popularity and prom nights. It’s definitely not bad, I just expected more time on stage and with the drama club for a book called, “My Fair Brady”. 50% in and we have only gotten one semi-full rehearsal scene? I’m sure other people may enjoy this more.
