Extremely well written but I found too much emphasis on etymology in the beginning of half of the book. Ultimately, I think this book will hold up as a “classic” work in how we talk about colonialism and racism

I really enjoyed this story, it was a fun journey. The concept was unique and I learned a lot about brujx culture.

Great intersection of Latinx culture and Yadriel being a trans man, where so much language and traditions are gendered, and how that impacts a young trans individual’s journey

After my second Sally Rooney novel, I've come to the conclusion that her writing is not for me. There were incredibly emotional moments where I was invested in the characters. I was very close to not finishing--but I am glad I did, however I won't be one to say this is a must-read
