Frankly, the only thing Black about the main character was the pigment used to colour her skin.

The characters were flat, the plot predictable and the magic system thin as ice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. it demonstrates Dr. Okorafor's love for Nigeria, particularly Lagos, in all its beauty and complexity. And the aliens are great too!
