See I already didn't like swamps..... (a very squid games vibe of a book with masked men)

Harper Leigh, her boyfriend and their friends are invited to "a special House of Horrors grand opening" at a famed haunted house that tells them to "Be ready for the scare of your life." Harper does not want to go but she is forced to. When they arrive the door lock behind them and no one seems to care but Harper. They are thrust into these life or death games while being teased about why they are there forced to play to the death.

This is a very fast paced story and it something that the warnings need to be headed. This was such a well written story. All of the characters are so amazing. The way the switch ups happen and people reveal their shady secrets, are crafted in a way that catches you off guard, especially when combined with how fast the story is. So much happens and it is obvious that the story was carefully planned. My only critique is that since it is a novella, I felt that one of the characters feel into the back because his personality was that of a more reserved, but sensual person. I want to see more of the one she affectionately calls Jack. (His name is not coming to me off the top of my head. Erebus is so very funny. I love the funny ones. The last masked man (whose name is a bit of a spoiler) I love the men in denial. I can't pick one. Harper honestly, we loving rooting for her.

This is is a fun little novella that takes place in the planet dead universe. This is a universe that is suffering a zombie virus. While this story is short, you do get to see a lot of the character’s personality as the author writes with present  and past events. While these events seem unmemorable to some, these are very obvious memories that are triggered by choice or something that happens.

I found all the characters to be so lively. I really enjoyed this book. The story is super funny. Most definitely a read for those who want a quick fast paced action read.

Hunter slayer is the journey of Violet and Levings as they try to uncover why there are so many ancient creatures rising again. In this story, we met Violet, she is 21 years old and she wants to be a Marshall. Problem is she is too old to start her training, as the cut off age is 19. Her brother at first is very much against it but he warms up to the idea and takes her to see if she can even get her credentials to start training. After she gets her permission to start training, her village is attacked. Refusing to relive the events that caused the death of her parents, Violet springs into action distracting the Stone Giant telling her brother to evacuate the village.

While fighting she meets Levings, a world renowned monster hunter slayer. You later learn he is old and the Courts hate him. After they get rid of the Giant, Violet is immediate arrested as she’s not allowed to use Magiic to fight monsters. Leavings storms the hearing, declares Violet as his apprentice. Together they travel to get answers on where all these ancient monsters are coming from and why.

I found the characters so enjoyable. I can’t wait to see the growth of violet. Since this book series takes the course of I believe 3 years, I can not wait to see her shed that naïveté. Levings is a person who enjoys his drink-drink and is so sad for some reason. I enjoy this surrogate father relationship. The way that Violet and her brother interact is so heartwarming.

Very much recommend this book to anyone who just needs a break and to read a book with a world that could almost be ours
