If you liked how weird the movie Saltburn was and how gross it made you feel after watching it -- I'd pick this book up! It's so bizarre and atmospheric. It's also quite gruesome so...warning. The banter between the main character Greta and her housemate Sabine also made me chuckle. The book is just full of crazy turns and is incredibly weird. Read it!

I have to admit that I nearly DNF'd this book because I just did not connect with it despite my excitement while reading it. I felt pretty burned by the hype surrounding this book! If you enjoyed My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh then you might like this one. It just wasn't for me and I love reading about cults!

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it! I will say that I love listening to memoirs as audiobooks whenever I need to complete mundane tasks like folding laundry or doing the dishes. It keeps things interesting. This was my first completed read of January -- it admittedly took me most of December to get through. Carmen Maria Machado helped me process and unpack a lot of similar trauma. I don't usually rate memoirs, but I do recommend this!

I finally got around to reading Happy Place! Mostly because I desperately craved a book to give me some fun summery romance vibes amidst my seasonal depression and Emily Henry came through as usual. I was giggling, twirling my hair, and kicking my feet...while also crying. I will say this is my least favorite of Emily Henry's books. I didn't love it as much as I loved Book Lovers or Beach Read.

I started the year re-reading my favorite series because who doesn't love a comfort-read to start their year off right? Also, the show was coming out (yes, let's talk about it) and I needed a refresh. I full-heartedly believe that no one is too old to read the Percy Jackson series. I hope to continue reading this series throughout the year!
