4.75 stars. Listen, I get the hate on books like this especially from true crime fans (I’m majorly into true crime so I get it) HOWEVER, I can separate real true crime versus a good FICTIONAL story. Plus, I am just a sucker for Jeneva. I love her split POVs. I eat her twists up. I was able to call this one not super easily but easy enough but I love her writing regardless. Her books got me out of a reading slump and I finished this in 5 hours. I loved it. She also definitely kept you guessing in this story I was doubting myself on different things in every chapter.

This is one of those books that I just won’t accept criticism on. Sorry not sorry. That ending?!!!! My jaw is permanently stuck to the ground. Anyone that tells me that they just happened to call all of this coming is lying. There is no way. I’m in awe.

Okay forget any book review I’ve ever made other than this one. I’m in AWE. The character development is to die for. The story line OMG. Every single aspect of this book was beautifully written and made me crave more this is my first legit 5 stars. I need this book to be 18382 more pages. I did not want it to end.

I don’t think my rating scale can handle this one… it’s not horror in a traditional sense it’s something completely different. I can’t even lie and say I wasn’t completely morbidly enthralled by this book but please for the love of everything read the trigger warnings. This is not a book that should be taken lightly and I honestly don’t know when I will be able to digest anything that I just read. Thanks booktok for whatever this was….

I fully understand that these cheesy thriller type books aren’t for everyone. It uses the same format as most thriller books. The real reason this gets 5 stars for me is because of the reveal and the epilogue but mainly the epilogue. My jaw dropped. I realize they hinted towards this but WOW the delivery was wild. I love Freida McFadden’s books and I can’t help it.

The only thing I’ll say is, my reasons for reading this were impure but that got put on the back burner because the plot had me BEGGING for answers

Eh, I don’t usually give out 3 stars but it was good & spicy HOWEVER there were some plot holes & just overall flaws that the author didn’t catch. It was a quick good read though

I give every book 5 stars, it’s just one of my flaws.

HOWEVER,

This book made me see why people are stingy with their 5 stars. I do not have a SINGLE complaint, annoyance, or unfulfilled desire about this book. This has so far been the best read of 2023 for me. I’m not a fantasy girly usually but I just went out and bought two other different fantasy books because this book just converted me. I’m obsessed.

This review is very subject to change since I’m writing it immediately after reading….

This book took entirely too long for me to get through and that is partially due to every one around me scaring me out of it because of the ending. Well… they were right. I am currently sitting on the edge of my bed staring at the floor… Rebecca… I have some major beef with you ♡

I love the characters. I adore Daya. But I just don’t understand how he can be such a good dude who started a great organization but then he grapes her on multiple occasions? Idk man it was a good book and I was invested in the murder plot line but I need to know his rationale..???
