super cute and easy read! definitely the perfect book to read in between darker books and makes me really want to work at a coffee house now!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 79%.
Okay now this one really hurt to DNF since I was so excited to read this. However, for some reason I just couldn’t find myself caring about the characters as intensely as I did during the first book. For starters, I was unaware that this book was set 100 years after the ending of Malice, resulting in a completely different world with a completely different cast of characters. I feel like that’s the main reason why I couldn’t find myself getting into this as intensely due to having all of these new characters and having no connection to them because we didn’t really see how theses connections were formed in the first place, how did this Dark Court rose. I feel like that’s the main issue, was that I went into this book having a somewhat clear view of what I thought was going to happen and then I went in and immediately everything got tore down. In a bad way, might I add.

Everything in this book feels extremely different as though it could stand on its own because of everything that had happened. I couldn’t recognize any of the characters anymore, such as Alyce and Aurora, who did eventually appear later. I feel like if we got to see the immediate aftermath of the ending of Malice and see Alyce change in action and brought this new court to life, then my views on this book would be drastically different, however, since we were immediately put 100 years later into a new plot, new world, it made it feel as though I was reading a different series that just so happened to get inspiration from another book.

I would still recommend everyone to read the first book Malice, however whether or not I’d recommend reading this book would be up for debate because of that drastic timeline jump. Maybe, I’ll come back to this with a fresh mindset, however, I can’t see it happening anytime soon. This one was truly a huge disappointment.
