i honestly like. just don’t like the book because the prose is bad. there are a million other ways i could justify it but really the prose is just bad and it all comes down to that.

i read this over the course of a few months and some of the stories are like. standout compared to others. it’s super long so it’s a slog to try and get through, but reading one a day really does get you through it and have you coming out wanting more of it.

this was genuinely such an interesting read!!!! i was not expecting to enjoy it as much as i did, but it was sooo compelling. suddenly i understand how rhetoric impacted people’s lives. i understand how it impacts MY life. lendon’s prose style is so good he honestly could make you care about just about anything just because he writes so well.

usually im not a big rereader, but this one i had to read twice in short sucession. it was really good, probably one of the first books i’ve enjoyed in a while. i still don’t feel like i have discovered every subtext and underlying meaning in it, so i think im due for another run through soon.
