in the first part this was really becoming one of my favourite austens ever, and even the little "shes all that" moment was getting me hyped, but unfortunately that ending is atrocious for me. i love fanny, and i will always protect her, but i gotta say this was a bit of a disappointment towards the end

im pretty sure it has been 10 years since the last time i read this and even if i remembered very little, that ballroom scene stuck with me through the decade.
absolutely magical and soooooo flirty!!!! there's authors out there that do the most to obtain what morgenstern creates in two lines of dialogue!!
confirmed as one of my favourite book sever

unfortunately, first and foremost i need to say that my opinion is highly influenced by how the relationship continued even after all that happened.
nonetheless! i think this book is simply too valuable: to be able to read his exact words feels stronger than an autobiography.
while you should always take in considerstion the bias of who's talking, what intrigued me was how he contradicted himself: he spends the whole letter highlighting his good nature and forgiveness, but then without noticing it, he attacks in the most subtle way, basically saying 'you know what you did, and one day, when your mask will fall, you will pay for it, whether you like it or not'.
the one thing you cant deny is how he was 100% (as he says himself) a man of the arts. he could just quote anything by heart and in any language. he was a real lover.
finally i want to comfort him: you thought you lost everything, but you're still living in today's literature.

this is my first new fantasy book in probably 10 years so im a bit out of the loop, but i did see that it's considered as either a fan favorite or an overhyped phenomenon
honestly, i think it's a pretty good book, with the good quantity of mistery that makes you want to read more and learn the truth. i had a bit of trouble at the beginning picking up the pace, but i think it's more about being in sync with the genre again.
what i really see as negative/disagreeing points are:
- judes ability as a spy: i get that she was trained by madoc ever since she was little, but if i imagined her - a human angry teenager - acting as a spy it always appeared as a sloppy one
- enemies turning into lovers at speedlight: i think the switch was way too sudden. they literally bullied her so harshly, and even if he gives some explanations FOR ME personally they wouldn't be enough for a switch to happen so quickly. he didn't even say sorry??? and suddenly they are doing some flirty banter and talking as if they simply had an argument over who ate the last cookie. the sequel does appear to be for them to be enemies again so I guess I'll see what happens with that
- let the cruel be cruel: honestly where was that? as said before, cardan at the beginning does some of the harshest things, and suddenly we see these events happening less and less because we have to make the readerlike the character. a bit bored with that
- the plot twist: oak giving the crown to cardan was literally the first thing i thought as soon as we got the necessary piece of info. i literally went 'oh, cool so they can just do it like that'. so at least to me the twist didnt work that well
although i listed many cons, i still enjoyed this book: e.g. i liked how in the final part jude evaluates every possibility until she finds the one that will give her the best outcome. i will continue with the trilogy!

Inaspettatamente coinvolgente, le prime 200 pagine sono la cosa piu lenta mai letta MA una volta arrivati all'inganno di Era non ci si può più fermare
