It was so nice to read this book!!
I picked this book first at all because of the cover, I love the colors and everything on it, it's definitely a book I would love to have on my shelves.
But let's talk about the story. I must admit I wasn't too happy with it at the beginning, maybe the first 25% of the book, there was some stuff that I didn't like. It felt too much insta-love for a second, but I kept reading and now I can say it was honestly just one sentence in the whole book that annoyed me.
After 25-30 initial percent of the book, I just fell into the rabbit hole and I went to bed till 5 am when I finally finished it.
The characters are well written, Ruby is a really strong girl and I loved my first impression of her because it is her saving the guy and not the other way around as usually is. Then about Josh, he is a really character, he is the "Touch her and I'll k*ll you" but at the same time he is so sweet, and a good guy.
Something else I loved about this book was Ruby's relationship with her parents, usually, in the books, this isn't mentioned but here we can see it, and it is a beautiful relationship. But on the other hand, we didn't see that much of her friends, even Audrey who is her best friend, I feel I don't know her, and I hope we can see more of her friends in future books.
It's a fast reading, well-written book, the perfect book for you to escape into a whole new world. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of that first 25% of the book, but it's worth to keep reading and finish it!!

"I want to kiss you, even though there is no reason for me to other than I want it."
It took me a while to write this review because I couldn't put my thoughts together. A Shadow In The Ember is one of the best books I've read this year (2021). I completely love the characters, starting with Nyktos, he is a perfect combination between "Touch her and I'll kill you" and a good, lovely guy. I'll say Nyktos is in a way the Daemon Black we love so much but in a New Adult version of it. (leaving out the part where he was an asshole at the beginning lol)
Sera, on the other hand, remains me of Poppy but that makes sense (I'm not going to say why to avoid spoilers) but at the same time, it isn't like they both are super similar, is just some actions sometimes. But in general, she is a really strong emotionally and badass character.
About the book in general, it was really slow at the beginning, it took me more than a week to read the first 40% of the book, it wasn't boring because stuff was happening but I wasn't super excited either, I didn't have the need of read. It was until I hit that 40% that I couldn't stop reading, and I wished that point come earlier in the book and not after 200 pages.
But it was worthy, the plot twists, that ending, the cameos from FBA, when I finished it I pretty much felt I needed a whiteboard to break down all the info I collected in my reading.
If you enjoy an adventure, with an emotional rollercoaster and some sexy scenes, this book is definitely for you!

Mad World was a whole new experience!!
As always Hannah's writing style is so good I basically read the book in two nights! I got caught into the story really quickly and immediately I fell in love with the heroine, Maddie, really fast. She is strong, unique, and I love the fact that she will hold her position or won't accept other people's will/words/actions without putting up some fight first. She is brave and intelligent. She cares for her family and friends.
About Ryan, I was worried at first, all my friends were like... "Remy who?" (He is the love interest in Sanctum, another series by Hannah) but I didn't fall in love with him. He is a really good character I'll give that to him, but I just don't love him, yet. I feel I'm going to love him in the second book tho, I just know it.
About the story in general, I have to say, some stuff was predictable for me, I just knew XYZ things will happen. There were just a few things I didn't see coming. Also, there are a few elements/situations/characters that were similar or remained me Sanctum (just without the fantasy) but at the end of the day I don't think is a big deal, the book is still an easy read! And yes! If you are okay with the warning triggers the book has, I'll recommend you to read this book.
