The first half was an easy five star. The second half, while highly entertaning and filled with food for thoughts on various subjects, was slightly anticlimactic. Still a funny, witty book and I will probably read again
My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

I have a lot to say. tl;dr: I feel like I wasted three hours of my life.
I had seen people comparing the book to The Bell Jar, so I did it a try. Not only is it not a good comparison, but I also had a terrible time. The writing is not my style, but that's subjective, I can do with it. I quickly began to think the book would have a dark, dry humour which could be efficient - and indeed, there were some moments when I chuckled, but I can count them on one hand.
Before anyone says, "You just don't get iiiiiit" I'm pretty convinced I do. I see the vision. I understand the point. It's just poorly executed. The main character is incredibly annoying (again, I get it, she's mentally ill, you're not supposed to think she's a good person, but I think that this is achievable while not spending 300 pages with a whiny privileged girl.)
And then, the light at the end of the tunnel. A moment of vulnerability. You understand the character more deeply, beyond the appearance, and for a second I truly thought I would enjoy the book, I just had to wait.
Wrong. The flaws that made the reading insufferable came back and it was even harsher given the fact I had seen the book had potential. I knew what the ending would be since I had read the very first date in the book, I hoped I would finally get out of that numb state of reading word by word and retaining none of them. It didn't happen.
This book wants to make me get a year of rest and relaxation - away from any book that's popular online.

I've taken a step back and I think I've gathered my thoughts.
I really enjoyed the two-thirds/three-quarters of the book. It was witty, satirical, andthe chapter in which there is an absolute influence of the Bunnies was brilliant, with the incredible loss of identity.
And then, it became a fever dream (or at least, more than it already was). Part of me thought it was too fast, part of me thought it was too much. It was very different from what I expected and I think this turn of events was a slight disappointment.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed most of the book, it's entertaining and witty. While I wouldn't recommend to everyone and will probably not read it again, I don't feel like I wasted my time.

Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski

The female characters really shined in that book and their moments and interactions are what kept me going
