I honestly didn't think I'd like this book. I thought I'd be bored with the look back. But I LOVED it. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I looked forward to how Cas thought and felt about each moment. Very well done.

Beautifully written, and a wonderful prequel to the Blood Grace series. I do wish this book could have been longer, with even more depth. And perhaps some story about their later trials, when Nephalea and Iskhyra are captured and Alkaios must try to escape the war mages.
