First 5 star book!!!
I truly loved this story and excited to read the rest of the series!!! Evangeline is an amazing protagonist, I love the way she is so hopefully and I love with things around her. It is a great change to see within fantasy.
This book felt refreshing, the story, the plot, the characters. I would highly recommend for any romantasy readers!!!

I thought the writing was fantastic and Sarah Maine is a good writer. However, I was told by a friend that this was a romantasy novel with a strong female lead. Which is true about the strong female lead. However, the novel was more historical fiction. I simply was not in the mood to read it, I have a special edition from Waterstones so I may go back to it in the future

I originally read the series a while back and could remember loving it but not specifics! Re reading this was a blast! It was intriguing, entertaining and as emotional as the first time I read it!
I love lily as a character, I love the fierce fullness, her strong will to stick with beliefs and her understanding and empathy! Josephine has done a brilliant job creating such a character, especially one so interested in science!

I was so ungodly bored and nothing was happening. I felt as if I was trapped inside of a snail who couldn’t move. Slow, slow, slow read.

This book is alright, I would say if you were looking for a reflective novel about self destruction - but light before bed it’s an okay choice.
I was let down by the novel and there was several yikes moments in it that made me put it down. The emails the characters write to each other read like a student philosophy essay. It’s a slow read if you’re not into reflective novels.
