Demian by Hermann Hesse

4/10 - Un livre assez déroutant. J’ai eu l’impression d’avoir l’esprit limité pour comprendre tous les aspects de ce livre mais le roman a abordé plein de sujets différents et j’ai beaucoup apprécié le cheminement de Sinclair à travers sa quête spirituelle et la recherche de son soi intérieur.

Dedicated to the fanfiction’s readers, I couldn’t agree more. It was definitely not a rom-com, a lot of mental heath conversations in this book. I really liked it.

This was a quick read and I enjoyed it. It highlights the impact that you can make on other people’s lives, and how they can impacts yours whether you’re aware of it or not. I am not fan of the writing style or the overall message, I feel somewhat conflicted about the whole heaven thing, it wasn't a 'life-changing'. 7/10

Ce livre est à propos d’un homme qui ne soucie de rien, ni de personne. Il est en décalage avec la société, mais aussi avec ses émotions, les conséquences que ses actes peuvent avoir sur sa vie. Cela le rend anormal voire dangereux.

Cette nonchalance va faire l’objet d’un procès. Ce procès (pour meurtre) est finalement un procès contre sa personne.

C’est une œuvre philosophique qui démontre l’absurdité qu’est le désir de compréhension de l’Homme. J’ai trouvé le livre dérangeant par l’absence d’émotion de Meursault, par son ennui. C’est très certainement le but. Ça reste un livre intelligent auquel je j’ai pas été insensible. 6/10

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

The author did something remarkable with this story. It’s a book so full of misery, pain and tragedy who gives a sense of hope and comfort by themes like friendship, ambition, love, family. The beautiful writing and the exploration of those themes affects me unlike anything else i’ve read. I knew it would be hard to read, but I didn’t knew how much I would suffer by the fact that you can do everything to help someone,  love isn’t the magical solution to end suffering. 9.5/10 (not 10 because it was really long at first, and it’s a difficult book so I’m not feeling well to give a 10/10).

It was a wholesome book. I loved Cameron’s pov and obviously the octopus one. I found the story less interesting when it was about Tova (and slow paced for nothing, that’s why it’s not 4 stars).

It was predictable but I still wanted to know the end and I’m happy about it :) (6.5/10)

8.5/10 - Ce livre était est une surprise. Je ne m’attendais pas tout à ce tournant si sombre au vu du résumé, la plume était belle, notamment avec les multiples références artistiques. C’est un livre difficile qui décrit très justement la souffrance que certains peuvent ressentir. 

J’ai trouvé intéressant le fait que le v**leur ne soit pas présenté comme une personne instable ou violente avant le drame. C’est souvent M. où Mme tout le monde.

What can I say… Sorry not sorry guys but it was mid.

Emily Henry knows how to write beautiful sentences but other than that, I didn’t connect with any of the characters, didn’t find them interesting, or realistically relatable (if we don’t talk about the mental health aspect and family issues).

That’s my biggest problem, it was unnatural, specifically the dialogues. The break up storyline wasn’t enough to make a good story, neither do Wyn and Harriet. The trip was boring, the back and forth from the present was useless ( I did see the point but NO).
The ending was rushed and I honestly didn’t care. I don’t see real love there and I don’t envy them at all. 

To finish in a good way : I liked the friendship between the girls trio (and their fight at the end, when they talk about how much people grow up and become different).

Alors là ! Le livre était très court (64 pages) donc rapide à lire. La plume est super belle, je ne me suis absolument pas ennuyée : c’est une histoire tragique.

Par contre, je ne comprends pas pourquoi les gens recommandent ce livre en valorisant l’histoire d’amour : c’était MALAISANT, obsessionnel et ça relève de la psychiatrie à ce stade. Je me suis faite la réflexion toutes les 2 lignes. Elle m’a parfois fait de la peine. Certes, c’est une lettre d’amour, mais à quel prix. 
Enfin, j’ai été surprise par un élément (qui fait donc lien avec la lettre), et le paragraphe de fin est incroyable. 

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Better than the first one ! It focuses more on the plot than the characters. Peeta is sweet but inexistant here and we meet new characters from other districts like Finnick and Johanna. I was a bit bored because it’s exactly like the movie sorryyyy. I also feel like we don’t know much about the capitol and the rebellion yet (until the end) so it can be a bit repetitive.
