The world building is amazing!! Easily the best world building I’ve ever read outside of Lord of the Rings. With that said, I kind of felt like the end of the book was rushed, and the climax happened super quickly. I think I would’ve appreciated more time spent describing the final battles and what came after. Overall, though, a wonderfully imaginative read.

This book frustrated the heck out of me. So many subplots seemed unimportant. The main character is the worst sleuth I’ve ever seen. I correctly predicted the culprit of the fires well before it was revealed, but the actual justification for it makes NO sense and so it feels bizarre and as if it came out of nowhere. Very little resolution at the end.  There’s so many other things I could mention. I had high hopes—the premise seemed dope!—but this one let me down.
