I appreciate JVN's willingness to be vulnerable with his readers in this memoir. I'm not a big fan of reading celebrity memoirs because the writing typically doesn't do it for me. But here, his voice rang through in each page.

This was the book that got me into reading as a tween. I was about 10 or 11 when this book came out and haven't though of it since then. I'm 33 now and this was like traveling back in time, yet to a period I was very much alive for and could connect with. The references to millennial things like "Amazon.com," No Doubt, and CD's brought me great joy.

I remember being obsessed with this book when I first read it but I was wary of going into this read with high expectations, what with the 20 year gap in time between reads. However, this read was just as enjoyable as the first one, maybe a bit more since I could appreciate the writing and characterization this time around.
