As someone who is an Orthodox Jew I found most of the story’s plot, of what I read, to be disheartening . This was marketed as fantasy or something and it was something. I don’t get offended easily given the state of the world and its current opinion towards Israel and her people, so reading this book couldn’t come at a worse time. This book isn’t bad in any sense. No book can be bad, just not for you. The whole “magic” of the plot is rooted in Jewish folklore that the author takes and runs off into a weird trial type book. I didn’t like the use of my faith and peoples’ history as a plot line that came off as exaggerated to the point of almost comical. Just know what you’re getting into before you purchase it. The name of the author in this case shouldn’t be the reason why you read it because it’s nothing like her other books.

Book was too much of a repetitive mess. I have no clue why this series is super popular but in my opinion it is absolutely not worth it. Majorly over hyped and a total bore.

Since I discovered Patricia Briggs, I have never read a book that I didn’t get lost in and couldn’t put it down. Winter Lost was super disappointing because it had next to no action scenes. There were so many sections of the book where Mercy and Adam were walking, which was described in way too much detail, or sit down conversations that were dragged on and on. Nobody needs a 6 plus page description of Mercy walking in the snow. I know the book community is stereotyped as never touching grass but we do in fact leave the house and touch grass. The book barely featured any of the other members of the Columbian Base Pack a part from tiny interlude sections. I find that when Briggs realise on Mercy and Adam too much the book some how ends up being a bit dull. There was also a serious issue with pacing in which the book dragged on so much that I had to put it down and walk away from it way too much.
