Do not let the cover of this book discourage you from reading it. It's one of the best books I've read this year, writing- and structure-wise.

"The Perfect Waiter" tells a story of a 50-something man, Erneste, who run away from his home and found solace in a posh hotel in Switzerland. There, he becomes the perfect waiter: has perfect manners, works meticulously, knows the habits of the guests. One day, another waiter comes: Jakob Meier, who becomes the love of his life.
The story begins when Erneste gets a letter from Jakob, after over 30 years they haven't kept in touch. Erneste recounts the story of how they met, fell in and out of love, and how Jakob got away. It's a beautiful story about desire, longing, your loved one changing, and grief. Truly remarkable.
