She Is a Haunting by Trang Thanh Tran
3.0
The atmosphere and the spook factor was amazing. I was so disturbed in some parts. Gruesome. Gross. It was awesome.
Really my biggest gripe was that there was a lot that I feel like the writer was trying to do here, and it was almost exhausting to follow. It felt fragmented and going at such a fast pace that was hard to keep up with. I wanted the discussion about Jade's Vietnamese and queer identity and her relationship with her family to really be explored more. It almost would've been better if this book was longer so that could really hit home. So many aspects were really good though, so it feels weird to rate it only a 3 (which isn't a bad rating by any means). If the writer comes out with more in the future, I will definitely be giving it a try.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

It certainly got better as it went on. There were things I really enjoyed about this book and things I really didn’t. Hoping the sequel follows the upward trend that the second half was building on.

So witchy and spooky. Great book for this time of year. Looking forward to reading the sequel!
