The more I read this series, the more I just fall for the story. Loving more and more the characters in it. The world and the magic.
I wish for better words to describe this experience to someone but I can say one thing: It is a great journey.

“All Near knows.”
“All Near forgets.”
“Or tries.”

After a while now, I’ve finally made it. I read The Near Witch by V. E. Schwab and I am very happy I did.
Personally, it fit quite well with my palette which was in need of a standalone but still with a witchy story to it. There is a little bit of darkness to the content of this novel, however I think it has a nuanced balance. Fitting to its targeted audience, which if I am not mistaken, is Young Adult.
I love how Lexi and Cole connect. Also how the elements of magic are portrayed. It felt like something I could’ve grasped if I could’ve pulled it out of my mind (if this makes sense).
Definitely would read it again.

Heartbreak is an incredible difficult but most often the most inspiring topic you can write about. While your heart is raw and bleeding, poetry sometimes comes much more easier to you and maybe it helps getting over things, to cope with things. Change is a very strange thing and I must say – I felt the emotions in these poems. It was beautiful. And sad.

It is a fun little collection of poems. I have started to read it on the train and finished it when I got home.
I might need to sit a little longer with this book and let the poems sink a bit more through. But for now - It is a good book, a beautiful collection with poems for in between.

“I’m not six anymore. Maybe everyone can see what they need to see in a pack of cards, but I’m tired of being left in the dark.”

And with that - You could say Blue got involved into the adventure of her life. Together with four other boys who at first are just Aglionby students to her and soon become her ravenous boys. Her friends who seem more different than anything else and yet are somewhat of their own little family.

This book is the incredible start of something big and I know I have three more books to read. And I cannot wait.
As Gansey likes to say: “Excelsior”

Because the adventure has only begun.

Thanks to Book Sirens, I am able to read this as an ARC. This is my honest review:

It is an interesting collection of short stories. While it is directed as horror, it goes more in the direction which toys a bit with your mind and a lot with words. Similar as to what you find in Edgar Allan Poe’s works. I liked a lot of the metaphors used in the stories itself and I can imagine that I would mark especially those phrases in a physical copy one day.
Definitely would read it again.
