Cool illustrations but the young adult version is unnecessary. The normal books is beautiful so I will eventually return to read the rest of that one as well.

A little slow and confusing at times but the ending was beautiful and so worth it. It is such an interesting story and so painfully important to consider what it means beyond it being a dystopian  future.

very pretty, interesting musing on her life. Some paragraphs really resonated with me while others were just an interesting insight into her thoughts.

This book was a lot of fun, I blazed through it! Lots of gossip and awful rich people, such a wonderful read.
I am confused why in the end Jen made the choice report the police that Jason was suspicious, like…. What did that serve to do???

Random other though, I’m a little sad that the book didn’t end with Jen and Lauren being besties on fire island the next summer… like I wished the ending had been different because I lowk don’t understand this ending.

Good book, I made a predication but it was shockingly wrong. My fav part was that every character was a psychopath or smth and therefore a bad person, quite exciting. About 4/5 of the way through the book I thought it was gonna be an unsatisfactory ending, because it wasn’t as scary or creepy as I was hoping it was, but by the end I thought it was a fun wrap up to the book.

I read this book quickly but was deeply impacted by its message and also the culture it was set in. The reflection on womanhood throughout the book was an interesting insight to the time, as well as a frame to think about how the world is now. The idea of womanhood in the face of manhood or the patriarchy was excellently done and captured the multitude of emotions that these women felt. I also enjoyed the Chinese medicine aspects of it and found that in itself fascinating. This book also really hit home with its messages of female friendship and the raw and emotional lines about the difficulties and beauties of it. Referencing to growing old together and female friendship being close to the heart and the laughter and tears that come with it. I cried quite a bit towards the end, mostly in the reflection of what her life meant, the injustices that Meiling endured and the large amount of deaths and tragedy. Regardless it was a gratifying read and I had a good time.

Probably could revisit to get some of the points again, I did not read it for tennis, I read it to improve at debate, and it gave me valuable insight to myself and competition. Def recommend reading.

This book was devestating, what a real and complex look at the way a family operates, the characters all feel like real people and their interactions are facinating. The end of the book was almost perfect and just metaphorical enough to cover the big concepts the book had been tossing around.

Beautifully written book, the four stories are sweet and sensitively follow the characters through self reflection. I love this book and would highly recommend to anyone who wants a light and easy read that had some emotion and love to it. Altogether a lovely book that is generally happy and made me cry a little.
