Hungry Ghosts by Kevin Jared Hosein
I am glad that Shweta was able to speak up/out against Marlee and that Marlee finally got exposed. I hate that Krishna had to die for it to happen. I do think Shweta will be okay. Even if she stays in the barracks, the other people love her. Hans definitely got the short end of the stick in comparison and still deserved worse. It was really hard for me to read afterHans started cheating but I kept reading and am ultimately glad I did. Still incredibly tragic and infuriating
Edit: and the fact that Tarakdoesn’t know that Krishna was murdered while he was trying to get Hans to help find Tarak is a tragedy of shakespearean proportions. He may never find out either, which might be for the best.

Will try again later. It was a lot going on and I couldn’t keep track of all the characters and their roles as humans/aliens/some combination of the two

this is soo haunting.. when Ola first brought up the idea to the pastor, I guessed it but thought it was too fucked up to actually happen in the book. It was like being forced to watch a train wreck happen and know that nothing could have changed it
Edit: didnt even mention how lyrical the writing is… almost musical… and i loved the worldbuilding. Really nailed writing about the decadence and luxury and opulence and also how it is part and parcel of all the fucked up stuff that goes on in their world
