I enjoyed this one though I do feel that the plot took a bit of a back burn to develop the character relationships more however since it's a series I don't think that's a terrible thing. The plot getting wrapped up in the last 15% and not leaving on a cliff hanger for the next book like I thought it would was interesting as this seems like it can be read as a standalone for now.

I am excited for the next book to come out and to follow the characters again, while reading it felt like a lot of the same vibes olivie Blake puts into her books especially masters of death and I had the same feelings reading that book as I did this one. The character studies and witchy paranormal themes make it feel similar enough but obviously both are very different, as someone who loved masters of death I enjoyed feeling the same about this one.

A dowry of blood is one of my 6 star books so I knew going into this it wouldn't live up to it but I was optimistic and I definitely had a good time reading it.

Glad that Willa was ginger so I could picture myself as her a lot easier, anything for Daddy Cade

I liked this but I didn't love it, I think it would've benefited from being a full book instead of a novella (which I thought it was to begin with otherwise I wouldn't have spent £7.99 on the EBOOK!!!!) as by the time you get going with the story it's already being wrapped up.

M.L Rio has a wonderful way of writing characters and through both of her works I found myself attached to the characters which, especially in a novella, is extremely hard to do.

I found myself trugging through the first half but by the second half when things are getting explained a bit more I was definitely in it but like I said by that point the book was basically over.

I'd say definitely worth a read but don't be and idiot and spend £7.99 on a digital version of it like I did 😑

The writing was bad and repetitive and the story was very predictable.

The only good thing was that it was investing and a quick read.

I don't know what to say about this book.

I think I enjoyed it?

The characters were all assholes and I was wondering how I'm meant to like them in the end, I guess they kinda had a redemption but I still think on the whole yeah not great people.

I found myself caring about kai so maybe I'll read his book but the rest I'm not sure.

I have been told they get better

Took me about half way through to really get into it then I was confused at about 75% of the way through because it was getting complicated and there was a lot to keep track of along with POVs from different characters just for 1 chapter.

If I had to read the word Azure one more time I was going to go insane

I think listening to the audiobook while reading helped a lot or it would've taken me a lot longer to finish.

I was getting annoyed with the main character because I hate the 'everyone who I love/loves me gets hurt so I'm going to push them away' trope like this is a 6ft male with a dragon I think he's gonna be fine. I also hate how she didn't want to know anything which leaves us as the audience in the dark too.

The main reveals of the plot were 1. Very obvious and 2. Done wayyyyy to early so the end of the book didn't have the impact it needed.

I enjoyed the story and will continue when the next comes out.

Despite the plot being somewhat overdone in the fantasy world I ate this up. It was so easy to read and I sped through it, the world building was immaculate along with the character development and tension throughout the whole book. I found myself getting angry with our main character and rooting for her. I'm glad this is a 4 book series because I didn't want it to end and I'm excited to continue knowing that nothing is getting rushed

I really enjoyed the start and was loving the 'vibes' however the book didn't deliver like I wanted it to, in the end it all felt too convoluted, I was so confused and it felt very juvenile in the explanation of it all. I think it felt a bit rushed and it would've been better to have this storyline carry on into the second book so it wasn't all wrapped up in the last 20 pages since I'm not sure what the others will be about now.
