This was an easy 3-star read.

The story was okay. I can't say that it was something unheard of or something so intriguing that I could not stop reading. I could... easily. But what kept me coming back to reading it was the well-written dialog between the characters.
I am not much of a "love to read about all the drama" person, and the progress of the story felt predictable but it was the dialog that was so well written that I enjoyed seeing it resolve its way to the end.

So if you love some drama, this is right up your alley, if not, maybe skip this one.
I know it was enough drama for me but I will probably give the next book a try... Maybe it will bring something new and original to the table.

I went into this one not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by how much it pulled me into the story and now I am invested in what will happen with Natalie and Penn.

There was some questionable moment but I'm willing to let it go since the energy of the main characters was so strong.

I loved this one.

This was a perfect representation of how life could be hard and unforgiving but the way you stand up to it determins if you get what you want in the end or you end up losing it all.

Dacota and Sophia are so different from the outside but so much the same soul on the inside. I enjoyed how their relationship developed from the unknowing shaking ground to the strong and determined bond between two people.
Even when the hard times hit and the blow is something you can not withstand, ask yourself, what can I gain from this? With that answer, you will grow. This is the perfect example of that.

Be bold, be magic, be a star.

I was interested in the story right away, just from reading the synopsis of this book.

But... it didn't start as strong as I imagined it would be. The first part of the book had some repetitive moments regarding the survival of the heroine and the description of the characters she was encountering.  There were even some parts exaggerated in order to form a more frightening situation but it was just over the top, even for a fantasy.
Then, somewhere in the middle part of the story, everything got better. The dialog, the writing, the plot ...everything was so enjoyable to read.

As for the story itself, it has a really interesting premise and it is inspired by Norse mythology so if you like the world of gods and their mysteries, this would be interesting to you. There were some rushed parts while some parts could have been brought up sooner, so the pacing was a bit off but it got wrapped up in the end. It does end in a cliffhanger, so be prepared to need the next book to find out what will happen next.

I received an eARC for this book and this is my honest review.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected.

Sometimes things don't go as planned and as you wish for them to happen. All you can do is to go with the flow and with a little bit of magic everything works out in the end.

I found out that my new favorite thing is small-town romances. This was certainly one of them. No matter that it has one of my least favorite tropes, it was written well, so I didn't have a problem with it. In the end, it is not the trope that makes the book but the emotional story of the characters and the reality of their problems.

The main theme here is family and feeling safe and it warms your heart. I would surely recommend reading this one!
