I really smiled a few times while listening to this book. The characters are so dynamic and I love the focus on friendship. I had really no idea what to expect when I checked out this book and I think that’s the way it should be. It’ll surprise you.

Noting that the fatphobia is pretty heavy even though there’s reason for it. After a few times I felt icky. I felt so validated when I came to read the reviews and saw others had similar observations and feelings.

From the moment I started this book, I knew I would love it. It just got better and better with each page/minute. (Definitely a good listen if you’re into audiobooks.) Eva is such a relatable character. She’s real. She’s raw. And she’s just  an all-around dope ass Black woman. I think the writing is stellar and there were so many nuggets I wanted to highlight or write down while listening. I was looking for a silky, smutty romance novel when I went to read this, but was  blissfully surprised to find that it was nothing of the such — yet everything I needed and more. It was deep and thought-provoking, and as I mentioned before, so relatable. I think the characters’ stories and arcs were so real that I didn’t necessarily walk away wanting a love like Eva and Shane’s. Instead, I walk away understanding why a love like Eva and Shane’s exists. And why
they’re end game anyways.
If that makes sense.
