my issue wit this one is that I might have set my expectations so high from everything I've heard from this book and they were perhaps too high.
I just need someone to tell me if I need to lower them or if this is just the first book and the rest get better please

anyway should I keep Chaol in my pocket to protect him from all evil or should I let him free

I'm so happy Victoria decided to write shades of magic because this didn't give what it was supposed to give

that ending was not expected at all and now I have to contain my screams from waking up everyone in my house at midnight

was this book peak literature? absolutely not.
was it entertaining and had me giggling and munching on their interactions? yes.

the plot is mostly a mix of the most popular tropes but I enjoy those. what didn't sit right with me was the specific similarities with dance of thieves, my brain glitched a little.

all this book managed to do was to feed my need for fast paced romance and my need to reread dance of thieves

I have a strong opinion on this one. it didn't hit as good as the first one, it low-key felt like a filler chapter but it was the entire book except a little part of some chapters.
I also need to add that I felt all the "plot twists" were not such, they were easily guessed. what drove me mad were the constant open endings at the end of the chapter, you're not achieving what you're trying to achieve, it is annoying me in fact.
I hope the third one fixes all this or I'm going to be devastated
