I've been struggling to figure out a rating for this book. Something about it felt almost cozy for me. I loved the story and the characters. However, the pacing was a little too slow for my usual tastes. I think I'd like to pick up the sequel eventually, but im also happy with the story that was told in this book. #indigoemployee
I had a lot of fun with this book. I feel very silly for having read it in July when it is, very clearly, a christmas book, but honestly I don't think the timing affected by enjoyment. I called the ending, and I actually feel kind of smart for doing so. I'm happy about the way everything ended, and honestly the last chapter almost made me cry. I definitely need to pick up more Cynthia Hand in the future, as this is the second book I've read from her, and the second book I've enjoyed. #indigoemployee
A bit slow for my taste, but the ending definitely had me interested in the sequel! I may have already added it to my cart for my next book order. I'm glad to have finally read this after having it on my shelf for so long! #indigoemployee
This was cute, and I'm so surprised it took me so long to finish this. There was a day where I sat down and read like 200 pages, and then I didn't pick it up for almost 2 weeks. This was very sweet.
What a wild ride of a book. I knew it was going to be difficult to read at times because of the subject matter, but I hadn't expected it to worm its way into my heart the way that it did. As I was reading I kept thinking "how is there a sequel to this?" but now I get it. I understand. I want the next book so badly. I've already enjoyed a book from this author before, but now I feel like I need to read everything she's ever written. Holy Moly. #indigoemployee
An incredibly fun premise, but I think it got lost in itself a bit. The last quarter got a bit confusing for me, too. I have the second book buried somewhere on a shelf and I think I'd like to read it, but honestly if I don't pick it up relatively soon, then I also won't be upset. I'd be interested in reading something else from this author, though.
I find myself more and more interested in non fiction lately, and this one didn't disappoint. I feel like I learned so much about Orwell and Eileen, both. You can tell that Anna Funder truly has so much love for the both of them.
I loved this book so much. It made my heart flutter and made me cry. Honestly the story is beautiful and I can only imagine how it must feel to see oneself represented in Dora in this way. #indigoemployee
