This was just not the right time in my life to read this. What I read was amazing and I hope to get it again but it needs to be returned to the library.

These characters are just not it for me. I was not connected to them at all, they annoyed me throughout the book. They both kept saying how much they wanted to/should be focusing on their career/dream but they just couldn't pull theirself away from the other one.
Daniel kept feeling such guilt for lying and "betraying" Samiya and yet that's his job. He should know that subterfuge is a necessary part and shouldn't feel guilt OR if it's going to be too hard talk to his boss about getting her in on the hunt for the money launderers. It just felt way over the top for him to feel so bad about lying to her and "betraying her" when they only knew each other less than 3 months and it was all surrounding a very important sting.

This book, while gorgeous prose and written uniquely turned out to be a lot harder to catch my attention that I thought. Every time I say down to read I would get 5-10 pages in and need a break. It felt heavy and effervescent at the same time. It's a beautiful story about humanity written with some beautiful prose, don't let my difficulty in reading it stop you.
