Private Equity: A Memoir by Carrie Sun

Executive Assistant works for a toxic CEO and writes a memoir. There could not have been more red flags from before the first interview even happened. Juicy but so repetitive.

I’ve become a big fan of Emma Cline lately. Her writing is visceral and a little dark. Her characters are not always that likable but they are thought-provoking.

This is quite the expose´! This story is an absolute horror show. Lives ruined, a narcissistic and unhinged CEO who seems to delight in others’ misery... wow.

This psychobiography was a new to me genre. About 1/3 of this short (155 pgs) book kept me engaged but the other 2/3 were uninteresting and dragged.

Whatever we think we know about CBK, it isn’t true. Elizabeth Beller clearly did her research and presents it in such a beautiful, compassionate way, Loved, Loved, Loved.

What if sentient robots were real and what if they developed to the point of wanting freedom and their own human identites? Such a unique examination on what it means to be human. Also, Doug can go take a long walk off a short cliff.

Hollywood Wives by Jackie Collins

This one is VERY MUCH of it’s 1983 time but I still enjoyed it. Some parts were slow moving and could have been omitted in my opinion but overall a fun, juicy and scandalous summer read.

THIS is the Akwaeke Emezi I love. Dark, intense and not for the faint, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how all the threads would come together.

 Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes. This was a fun read while also including some deeper themes. I could have used more spice though!
