I Am a Cat by Natsume SÅseki

overall, i really enjoyed this book. i liked seeing the interactions and connections of human beings and their nature in a different perspective, that of a cat. i think the relationships between the main character, mr sneaze, and his friends was a very humble and calming kind of thing. they could get together whenever and talk about anything that comes up, it was a tranquil kind of book. there wasnt any major events, just the little series of lifes misfortunes and sufferings, such as the students bothering mr sneaze. this book is definitely a comfort read of mine, the only thing i wasnt too fond of was the ending. it seemed abrupt and not planned out well, but perhaps thats the best part, as life is unexpected and abrupt.

this book wasnt a favorite, i disliked it at times but not overall. i found myself hoping for a calmer book where everyones just kinda hanging around like this one while i was reading a court of wings and ruin, and was pleasantly surprised when i got to this. however, i wasnt really a fan of the storyline and the switching of perspectives. it seemed a little messy and not well thought out. one thing that made me really upset was the treatment of lucien and the downright bullying and degradation that feyre unleashed on him, he didnt deserve that and i could rant for hours about how angry it made me. it really didnt even add anything to the plot, like seriously feyre, "the band of exiles? do you guys host events? is it a party planning committee?" what is her problem :( he finally found a place where he felt at home and like he belonged and she MAKES FUN OF IT. DUDEEEE i cannot deal.

okay honestly after like a year has gone by i dont remember anything from this book, all that i remember is how much i loved it and how big of a book hangover i had after finishing. i think i need to reread this to fully grasp everything that dostoevsky talked about. this is such a good book i love love love it.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

i really dislike the direction that sarah j maas took regarding tamlin. he was perfectly fine in the first book, he was a great guy. then rhysand comes in and all of a sudden tamlin is written as an abuser, despite doing nothing wrong in acotar. instead of writing a love triangle or just falling out of love, sjm changes his entire character. its lazy and weird and i dont like it.

i enjoyed this book, but was a little disappointed about the plot. i was expecting something more along the lines of the writing style of no longer human, as it is directly connected to it, but it seemed a bit more light and comical (hence the "buffoonery" in the title i guess). it joked about the topics that oba yozo dealt with in no longer human, giving it a more light-hearted feeling, as if yozo was trying to reject those feelings and hide them away in this book. overall, i liked this book and the airy feel of it, even though i'd expected a more heavy premise.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

i enjoyed this book a lot more than i thought i would! i usually dont like books that are assigned for school (though i read this on my own, willingly, the point still stands that it is assigned in schools), but this one really stuck with me after finishing and i loved it. one of my favorite things about it was the parallel between the dog being put down and the dogs owner, candy, had no one else except for the dog, but the dog only brought trouble to people. he (the dog) struggled more than anything else and was put down for his own good, as he was deemed worthless and trouble by people around him. candy felt sorrow at the fact that no one stood up for the dog and said that he should be allowed to live, but couldnt even voice that himself. he regretted not putting down the dog himself. i felt that all of this could apply to lennie. this book was very emotional for me and i felt very struck with sorrow upon finishing it. the characters were all written very well and had immense depth. i loved it very much and plan to read it again soon.

his body was too big for him and he unknowingly brought harm and trouble to other people, accidentally killing little animals with good intentions. after killing that girl, he was deemed too much trouble than he was worth and needed to be killed. george didnt really want lennie to die, but couldnt say anything because he knew that it wouldnt be heard. so he took it upon himself to kill lennie, instead of letting someone else do it, because he remembered candy saying how he regretted not killing the dog.

wish the second season was in novel form because its my favorite argghaghfhd. my friend recommended it to me and i ate it up in like 2 days i think the little sillies are so silly and i wish that they could be happy together on alpha centauri or in their own little world like gabriel and beelzebub. aziraphale is so me
