The Shining by Stephen King

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters better, and their backstory reading the book. I have seen the movie, so I already knew the plot and the gist of what was to come. Tho it has been quite some time so even I can’t remember everything from that.

I always enjoy King’s writing, tho I still have SO MANY to read, have yet to be disappointed.

This book was good, once I got into it I was definitely invested. & enjoyed trying to piece the twists together. Which I half guessed initially and the following twists were kind of expected.

It did irk me that the author chose to state “25 years prior” etc rather than just state the dates. As I’d forget what year the present was in, and I just don’t want to do the math! 😅

It did feel a bit dragged out at the end and I was ready for it to wrap up.

I’m shook. I never would have expected this book to hit me in my feels and bring out all the emotions. It’s a fricken horror story! 😅 But I felt so connected to the characters, no matter their length in the story. Putting the pieces together of what was happening with the “Penpal” the eeriness of it. My heart aches for Josh and Veronica. 💔 And what that Penpal did to their father! When the realization hit him that he unknowingly buried his son. Omg. I would have loved to have even more details to this because I enjoyed it so much!

As if I didn’t need more illogical reasons to fear the ocean. 😅 Cue all the anxiety while reading this one.
