I honestly couldn't pay attention or do anything else when reading this, I was so freaking nervous.

I was so into the story that I had no idea I was done with this volume and on to the next one. I'm so sucked in.

I would reread this again if I ever need a reminder why technique is important and considered a tool and what's the point of it.  I keep learning and relearning something about myself in every volume. Damn.

Definitely made me appreciate and like Ryuji's character more. And being defiant and defending your own art... Yeah, I get that. I get that way too much.

I really enjoyed the first half, but got bored in the second. The rambling narration if the author definitely made me laugh though and his observations on these immature boys (more accurately men since theyre all in their 20s), were sharp and uncomfortably accurate and relatable. I didn't know going in that this is connected to another work of the author's and I went in blind. It makes me very curious to read that other book, NO LONGER HUMAN, so I can understand the context of this novel better. Overall, it was short, meandering, and made me cackle at times from the author's ranting narration.

I had so much FUN reading this! Carrie's character arc felt so satisfying to me and the ending had me grinning like a fool. A sports novel that made me think, ah, there are more ways than one when it comes to falling in love. And one of them is the love of the game. I eagerly await Reid's next novel that continues to expand this universe she's created!
