i have spent quite some time with this book so it’s only fair that i write it a proper review

this was a great story and also exceptionally well written, however there were so many things that i disliked about this. the first being it’s incredibly slow start. i needed to sit through about 200 pages before the story got interesting and until i got to that point, apart from dnfing it i wanted to give it two stars, tops. it was basically no plot just vibes for me and when i look back at that part now, after finishing it, i don’t feel like it brought enough depth or anything into the story for it to be worth it. i think it could’ve easily been left out.

the more i read though, the better it got. there’s a point in the story when it gets really intense for a long time and the feeling that something is about to happen never really leaves. you start to care about the characters more and even though there were weak moments, overall it was great

the characters were amazing. each of them original and in some ways relatable. very well written and consistent without the lack of their development.

in conclusion i would like to say that i think, in fact, that secret history walked so if we were villains could run

👏Rebecca👏never👏misses👏

this amazing fast-paced story is about serious issues in the writing and publishing industry. she touches on these controversial topics through an objective lens yet manages to present them in an entertaining way, so the reader doesn't get bored and reads a tense story.

i also want to comment on the main character. she was so real. she made many mistakes, flops, and mastermind moves. i can relate to her more than i am willing to admit. she perfectly fits the narrative with her evil and practical way of thinking

i learned so much reading this page-turner and i would recommend this to anyone, especially to the ones that would want to publish something one day. it just gives you a whole new perspective on the publishing industry.

i'm also kind of curious about how much Rebecca wrote about herself in this novel
