I’m exploring fiction translated into English.  The Red Queen series features two flawed protagonists that you can’t help rooting for. Mystery/thriller. Start with The Red Queen.

Love this author’s world building, but I found it hard to care for the characters.

Enjoy spy thrillers? This book is for you. Deep characters, engaging plot, kidnappings, murders the whole boat.

My dad fought in New Guinea during WWII.  He talked about it sparingly. Fingerbone is a snippet of that campaign from a Japanese soldier’s point of view, sad, intense, a literary work rather than a typical war novel. Now I know why my father didn’t talk much about the experience.

Short fun read.  Better than Kaiju but I prefer the author’s space operas more.

Good start, but Abercrombie doesn't play fair with the reader. Can't say more than that without spoilers, but I wasn't satisfied with the ending.
