I liked the characters, the worldbuilding, the internal politics, and perhaps most of all, the cat. But I felt there could've been more character development, and the ending was

sad but

pretty predictable.

I have conflicted feelings about her forgiving him relatively quickly (I know it was a year, but still only a year) at the end. I would have preferred that part had stayed a little more open-ended.
