Oml this might be one of the best books ive ever read and THE best duology ive ever read.
KAZ BREKKER- my husband, loml, criminal prodigy. HIM AND INEJ ARE SO PERFECT. Love my morally grey characters and kaz was definitely one of them for me. Theyre just the best to read about because u can see both of their views and how incredibly unhinged but grounded they can be. Like they’re terrible people but they have their reasons? Plus hes bae so..
Also i KNOW hes supposed to be a criminal prodigy but that does not change how incredibly impressive those ideas were? Like how do you think of that? Because what do you mean lets stage an auction, pose as the council of tides, frame an entire country, fake a death, defeat one of the biggest barrel bosses and a merchant, then get out alive, happy, and rich?
Also the Kaelish prince thing was so impressive with alby and everything.
Literally fav character from the grishaverse and thats saying something because nikolai lantsov exists…
Maybe fav character from any universe tbh..
Also nikolai and kaz meeting like yes yes yes
INEJ GHAFA- another loml. I loved how she was literally good at everything and they actually put her up there with kaz instead of making her super annoying and pick me. And everything she went through i actually wanna cry for her.
JESPER FAHEY- i loved the idea of the way he didnt use his Fabrikator powers created an illness inside of him instead of out. Deffo one of my favs. Also loved the adhd rep because it was definitely implied that he did have it.
WYLAN VAN ECK- i love him so so so much my poor baby did not deserve what he went through i just wanna give him a big hug (karima would not approve)
MATTHAIS HELVAR- HIS DEATH HAD ME ALMOST SOBBING ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL OML THAT WAS NOT DESERVED. MY POOR BABY NINA
NINA ZENIK- i love her so much lil patriot. Raising the dead was cool but IF SHE STILL HAD HER HEARTRENDER POWERS MATTHAIS MIGHT BE ALIVE. She did not deserve anything she went through and i will personally be talking to leigh about this and possibly my therapist.
THE FOUND FAMILY TROPE IS COOL AND ALL BUT THEM SEPARATING AT THE END??? Murdered me. Tore my heart out.
Pekka rollins deserved all that nd more BUT IF KAZ AND INEJ TOOK IN ALBY AND RAISED HIM INSTEAD….
Also kaz and inej finally being able to hold hands at the end was just so cute like what.
Inlove with this book completely

I don’t accept any negative comments on this book because if you have any negative comments you clearly have never read any of Lemony Snicket’s other works
‘It makes no sense’ it makes plenty of sense you just decided to buy a book called horse radish without any context 💀
Also if you have read any of Lemony Snicket’s work then you know its his writing style, and if you don’t like his writing style why would you buy the book??
Anyway i loved it sm i read asoue when i was 6 and im still obsessed and i love lemony snicket so much i have a whole shelf dedicated to his books 😭
Alsoooo a super quick read and was generally just really fun to annotate
