Was so looking forward to reading this after I impulse bought it during an eBook sale. Luckily I didn't pay full price because after a few chapters I realized it wasn't the book for me at all. The premise seemed so fun, but the MC had the brattiest attitude that I couldn't get past.

So I see it, I see what the author was going for. The frame (plot) and pieces were interesting, but I didn't feel it was built properly. Characters were not fleshed out, decisions didn't make sense. ugh. my poor book loving heart.

I did love Zelda though, we love zingers.

I don’t really know what to say about this book. It just kinda *was*. It was neither good nor bad, but I also can’t remember rly anything that happened.
There wasn’t rly any plot, it was there but wasn’t quite formed
The characters were annoying and felt under developed and the relationship between Madeleine and Jasper felt forced at most
The story also took me far too long to get into and I almost DNF’d it but I soldiered through. I was disappointed because I was rly looking forward to reading this. I guess that’s all their rly is to say about Last Chance Books

The story was kinda too much tbh, tho i like it when books talk about other books so that's why I'm here

came back to this review because i got bored so why not? also i have so. many. thoughts.
i never dnf books, like it would have to be so bad for me to dnf it. because usually, if i don't like something i then like to write long reviews about why i hated it and why nobody should read it. i gave this a 3.25.

I've been trying to figure out what it is about this book that drove me nuts (other than the main character being a brat to everyone around her always) and I finally figured it out.
The family has owned this bookstore for years. Several generations amount of years. And it never occured to them to have events or to have a functioning inventory system. Their employees just sit in their phones the entire shift. I think we have found the reason your bookstore is failing.
